Why CronyNVR exists.

Walk into any convenience store, dental office, or small retailer in America and you'll see one of three things behind the counter:

CronyNVR is what we'd build for our own parents' businesses. Honest pricing. Hardware we don't hold hostage. A cloud portal that actually works. An API for the POS integrator, the insurance adjuster, the franchise auditor. Updates that don't brick your box at 3 AM.

What we won't compromise on

  1. Your video stays on your premises. The cloud is for live remote viewing, management, and short-term clip caching. The recordings themselves live on the appliance in your store. Cancel us and you keep all your footage.
  2. Open standards everywhere we can. RTSP for cameras. HLS / WebRTC for playback. REST + JSON for the API. No proprietary protocol you have to license. No lock-in by file format.
  3. Real incident reports when we break things. Every outage gets a written postmortem within 72 hours on the blog. What broke, why, what we changed. Same standard you'd expect from Stripe or Cloudflare.
  4. One price. Per store. Not per camera, not per user, not per feature flag. When you grow from 4 cameras to 8, your bill doesn't change.
